Read at your own pace.
Read at Your Own Pace with the Mind, Body & Sole Program at the Akron-Summit County Public Library coming soon in 2014
This summer, Summit County residents can make reading and exercise a part of their day–every day with Mind, Body & Sole: Read At Your Own Pace, a reading and wellness experience for the whole family to enjoy.
“The goal of this program is to simultaneously encourage both reading and exercise,” said David Jennings, Library Director. “Reading and exercise are keys to leading a vibrant life, individually and collectively as a community. We are trying to promote both through Mind, Body and Sole. ”
From TBD – TBD participants can join in two ways:
1) READ AT YOUR OWN PACE: Read each day for 30 minutes, then check off that date on the reading/exercise log. Participants will receive fun incentives as they reach reading milestones all summer long, and be entered into drawings for prizes. (This is the ‘read only’ option).
2) Choose to be active also! Run/walk at least 26 miles (or 52,000 pedometer steps) over that same period of time. If a pedometer cannot record the movement activity, log ½ hour of activity as one mile. Record the fitness accomplishment on the reading/exercise log. When they have reached 26 miles AND read 26 days, they will receive a Mind, Body & Sole t-shirt and be entered into the GRAND PRIZE DRAWING on September 27 at the Akron Marathon expo.
Jennings added that “this is another example of the collaborative spirit in our community that seeks to improve the quality of life in Akron and Summit County. Together we encourage our residents of all ages to sign up for Mind, Body & Sole for a fun and active summer in 2013. ”
